01
Free Youth Clinic
In October 2023, the BCCHA put on a free youth cutting clinic with renowned horse trainer Brad Pedersen! The 4 days, we had a youth clinic and a member clinic. It was hosted at Bell Creek Arena and had 12 youth participants from the BCCHA and BCHSRA. The clinic consisted of flag work, cow work in the practice pen, showmanship, loping pen etiquette, as well as how to wrap polo wraps!
We hope to do more more clinic like these. Their futures are bright!

Each Province has the option of adding prizes to their designated HHCYS
weekend cutting or their High Point Aggregate winners at their expense and
discretion.
It is encouraged that each Association advertise the HHCYS Cutting so that
as many youth as possible across the 3 provinces may benefit from the
Hans Hansma Canadian Youth Scholarship fund.
Established in 2000 in memory of the late Hans Hansma, the fund has
awarded over $100,000.00 in scholarships to post secondary students
since its inception.
Hans Hansma’s legacy continues in the Equine Industry including his
leadership in the many equine clubs and associations he had a hand in
establishing. The development of his Quarter Horse linage continues to
show up as the foundation of many successful breeding programs, and his
family members contribute to the equine industry as we know it today.
The scholarship application program is available to those students who
apply and fit the criteria. They are eligible for a yearly scholarship of
$1000.00 and can apply for 4 years or when their degree is completed,
which ever comes first.
